Matua

Nguru Lrg

The Matua represents the adult male moth.

Where the earlier forms speak of growth and transformation, Matua embodies emergence, awareness, and presence.

Having completed its journey through the earlier stages of life, the moth now possesses an expanded awareness of its surroundings. Regal in bearing and purposeful in movement, it becomes a symbol of maturity and heightened perception.

The carved patterns flowing across the body represent the unfolding wings of the moth. The lines surrounding the eyes reference the antennae, through which the moth perceives and navigates the world.

Like the other nguru within the series, it may be played by either mouth or nostril. Its voice is mellow, grounded, and contemplative.

This particular model features three finger holes and an adjustable cord for wearing around the neck or wrist.

Matua speaks of wisdom gained through experience and expanded awareness.
